The African Campaign Medal was a military decoration awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces who served in North Africa during World War II. The medal was initially authorized in November 1942 and is no longer awarded. The decoration was awarded for a minimum of thirty days of service in North Africa, including service in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Egypt. It was typically awarded to members of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard who served in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations. The medal's design features a North African desert scene on one side, with an eagle clutching a bayonet and a palm branch on the other side.
